to reduce flooding of the Comite River in the
Amite River Basin. JCG was the prime contractor

JCG was awarded the first construction package
for a new Polyvinyl Chlorite (PVC)
facility.
The scope of work in the site preparation
package involved 3 phases of construction: 1)
Earthwork 2) Underground pipe installation 3)
Concrete road paving.
Activities included clearing and grubbing,
topsoil stripping, construction of drainage
culverts and structures, installation of an
underground firewater system, and lime
stabilization. The scope of work also included
limestone surfacing and road base and the
construction of concrete roadways.
In total, the project required:
-
116,000 cubic yards topsoil stripping
-
250,000 cubic yards of excavation/fill
-
Installation of 10,200 linear feet of
underground firewater piping and 6,000 linear
feet of drainage pipe
-
120,000 tons of limestone placement
-
9000 cubic yards of concrete roadway
-
Rail spur installation
Due to the weather sensitivity of the sitework
scope, this phase of the project was extremely
critical to the overall project schedule. |

James Construction Group performed four separate
phases as a part of this total project. The
first phase was the construction of five miles
of the access road from US 67 north of Texarkana
to the site on the Red River. The second phase
was the site work and holding pond construction
for the plant itself. The third phase was the
site paving for the plant and the fourth phase
was the emergency construction of an additional
holding pond after start-up of the plant. The
project featured:

38 acres of clearing and grubbing for the sitework

Site and roadway excavation of 444,000 CYs
-
Installation of 31,600 CYs of clay liner for holding ponds

Lime stabilization for roadway of 110,000 SYs
