Project Description:

James Construction Group served as subcontractor, performing sitework in preparation for expansion of the Evangeline Downs Racetrack. The work involved the following:

  • Clearing and stripping of 190 acres

  • 432,000 CY of excavation/embankment

  • 140,000 SY of soil cement

  • Laying 22,000 tons of asphalt

  • Installing 6 storm drainage structures

  • 1,500 CY of concrete paving

  • 6,500 LF of curb and gutter

  • Construction of sand track and turf track

Project Description:

This project involved site preparation for a combined cycle power plant. Construction activities included the following:

  • Clearing of 40 acres

  • Excavation/embankment of 425,000 CY

  • Placement of 10,000 LF of storm drainage

  • Installation of a 5-acre liner in raw water pond

  • Construction of 2,500 LF access road

  • Laying of 15 acres of crushed stone

  • Placement of 70,000 CY of erosion matting

  • Installation of box culvert

  • Asphalt paving

  • Rip rap revelment


Comite Diversion at Lilly Bayou

Project Description:

This project was the first of four phases of the Comite Diversion project. The project’s goal is to reduce flooding of the Comite River in the Amite River Basin. JCG was the prime contractor on the project, and the scope of work included:\

  • Access road construction

  • Pipeline protection

  • Silt fence installation

  • Clearing and grubbing 120 acres

  • 1,400,000 CY of excavation

  • 86,700 vertical SF of slurry trench

  • Grassing and seeding

Location: Malvern, Arkansas

Project Description:

For this 500 MW power plant, JCG was awarded the site development and the installation of the cooling water process piping system for all plant operations.  Activities include: 

  • Clearing and grubbing approximately 90 acres

  • 75,000 cy of topsoil stripping

  • 64 acres of soil stabilization

  • 196,000 cy of excavation

  • 172,800 cy of structural fill

  • 63,000 tons of stone base material

  • Stormwater drainage, including 30 catch basins, 4000 LF of concrete pipe culverts and 80 cy concrete drainage structure

  • 600 LF 90” Price Bros. concrete pipe

  • 4500 LF of access road

  • 20 acres of seeding

  • 60,000 sy of erosion control matting

Project: Site Development
Location: Addis, Louisiana

Project Description:

JCG was awarded the first construction package for a new Polyvinyl Chlorite (PVC) facility.

The scope of work in the site preparation package involved 3 phases of construction:  1)  Earthwork 2) Underground pipe installation 3) Concrete road paving.

Activities included clearing and grubbing, topsoil stripping, construction of drainage culverts and structures, installation of an underground firewater system, and lime stabilization.  The scope of work also included limestone surfacing and road base and the construction of concrete roadways.

In total, the project required:

  • 116,000 cubic yards topsoil stripping

  • 250,000 cubic yards of excavation/fill

  • Installation of 10,200 linear feet of underground firewater piping and 6,000 linear feet of drainage pipe

  • 120,000 tons of limestone placement

  • 9000 cubic yards of concrete roadway

  • Rail spur installation

Due to the weather sensitivity of the sitework scope, this phase of the project was extremely critical to the overall project schedule.


Food Protein Recovery Plant

Project Description:

James Construction Group performed four separate phases as a part of this total project.  The first phase was the construction of five miles of the access road from US 67 north of Texarkana to the site on the Red River.  The second phase was the site work and holding pond construction for the plant itself.  The third phase was the site paving for the plant and the fourth phase was the emergency construction of an additional holding pond after start-up of the plant. The project featured:

  • 38 acres of clearing and grubbing for the sitework

  • Site and roadway excavation of 444,000 CYs

  • Installation of 31,600 CYs of clay liner for holding ponds

  • Lime stabilization for roadway of 110,000 SYs

  • Installation of 1,622 LF of HDPE drainage pipe

  • Concrete paving of 26,300 SYs

  • Emergency pond excavation of 46,000 CYs and pond liner of 13,700 CYs

  • Completed in 21 Calendar Days
