Company History
The roots of James Construction Group, LLC, date back
to 1926 when T.L. James & Company, Inc. was
established in Ruston, Louisiana. Over the next 70
years, the company grew into one of the largest heavy
civil contractors in the southern United States,
performing heavy civil, highway, airport, and marine
construction services. The Company further expanded
its customer base and market service area in the late
1980s, offering industrial and environmental
construction services to private industry.
In 1998, the T.L. James & Company construction
operations were merged with the southern operations of
Angelo Iafrate Construction to form what is now known
as James Construction Group, LLC, or JCG.
Headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, JCG is
structured with two major construction groups: 1) the
Industrial Construction Group and 2) the Heavy
Construction Group.
The Industrial Construction Group encompasses two
business units, the Industrial Division and the
Sitework/Environmental Division. The Industrial
Division provides all phases of civil/structural
construction, mechanical equipment erection, and
process pipe installation for private industrial
clients. Specialty services include boiler, furnace,
and heater repair and installation.
JCG’s Sitework/Environmental Division has a proven
track record of successful performances on large
earthwork and site development projects throughout the
southern region of the United States. The Division
also has extensive expertise on landfill and
remediation projects that require handling the unique
soil/groundwater conditions encountered in this area
of the country. This experience includes the closure
work for several major “superfund” sites in Louisiana.
The Heavy Construction Group of JCG is comprised of three
business units that include North Louisiana Heavy
Civil Operations, South Louisiana Heavy Civil
Operations, and Texas Heavy Civil Operations. Each of
these business units provide primarily heavy civil and
highway construction services for local, state, and
federal governmental entities such as the Department
of Transportation, Department of Defense, U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, and various Port Commissions.
