Alcoa FM 696 Relocation

This project was performed in the vicinity of Alcoa’s Three Oaks Mines 5 miles northeast of Elgin, Texas. It required JCG to relocate the existing FM 696 to a new location to allow Alcoa to continue its lignite mining operation. Upon completion, the road—which was constructed on Alcoa property—was deeded to the Texas DOT.

 

Project Scope:

 

·    Construction of a roadway to serve as the new location of FM 696

·    296 stations of Prep ROW

·    106,000 CY of excavation/embankment

·    1,200 LF of box culvert, pipe, headwalls, and inlet work

·    A new 13,000 SF bridge over the haul road

·    127,000 SY of lime and cement stabilization

·    80,000 tons of flex base

·    28,000 tons of hot mix

·    Signs, guard rail, and pavement markings for the new roadway
