Maintenance

PCS Nitrogen
Geismar, LA

More than 10 years ago, James Construction Group began performing gypsum stack maintenance for the PCS facility in Geismar, Louisiana, which manufactures phosphate fertilizer, nitric acid, potash, and industrial products. This successful business partnership continues today.

Contract Scope:

·    Gyp stack maintenance

·    Infrastructure upgrades

·    Inside-plant capital projects

In Detail:

·    James Construction Group employs a 20-person crew to maintain PCS’s 425-acre gyp stack facility.

·   Currently, the stack is 140 feet tall and at its apex affords views of the Mississippi River and the Sunshine Bridge. JCG will stack gyp to the maximum permitted elevation of 200 feet, the same height as the State Capitol! At that point, the stack will be clay capped and grassed and a new one started elsewhere on the PCS property.

·    JCG’s work at PCS consists of not only gyp stack maintenance, but also infrastructure upgrades and inside-plant capital projects including a 14,000-linear-foot, 16-inch HDPE gyp line upgrade.

·    Our company’s crew participated in the emergency response when hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck and deposited a considerable amount of water on the site. Working a 24/7 schedule, the JCG team brought in generators to operate the 15 pumps used for water-pumping and containment operations.
