In May 2006, the Greater Ouachita Port Commission awarded James Construction Group a port expansion contract that calls for the construction of a dock facility capable of handling a 250-ton crane. The crane will be used to offload foreign and domestic container cargo from barges and transfer them to rail or truck for distribution to the Ark-La-Miss region and, ultimately, to other destinations throughout the United States.

 

Project Scope:

 

·    Earthwork

·    Installation of sheet pile wall

·    Driving 18″ concrete piles, treated timber piles, and steel pipe piles

·    Construction of two treated timber mooring dolphins

·    Construction of a fender system for the dock and dolphins

·    Installation of concrete deadmen and tie-back systems to further stabilize the sheet pile wall and dock systems
